“Your donation does make a difference,” explains Monica White, interim CEO of FOOD Share, Ventura County’s foodbank. “Last year, FOOD Share distributed over 11 million pounds of nutritious food to hungry families, children and seniors throughout Ventura County. We simply couldn’t provide this imperative community service without the support of our generous donors.”
“We are thrilled to be part of this wonderful program in our community,” stated Brad Bartlett, President, Dole Packaged Foods. He continued, “We partner with FOOD Share on a number of programs and we are committed to doing our part to alleviate hunger and food insecurity nationwide. FOOD Share provides a vital service to those in need in LA and Ventura counties.
“The ability to leave a charitable impact in the Thousand Oaks community is a top priority for the PowerShares QQQ Championship. Our partnership with FOOD Share and Dole Packaged Foods has allowed us the opportunity to accelerate that mission.” Said Phil Bough, Executive Director of the PowerShares QQQ Championship “We are excited to watch the positive change these donations make to aid in the fight against hunger.”
About FOOD Share
Nearly 40 years ago, eight citizens performed a good deed by distributing food to those who were in need underneath a Ventura bridge. The early philanthropic movement quickly formed into what is now Ventura County’s regional food bank, FOOD Share, which has grown from serving a few hundred hungry people per month to 74,500 people. Today, staff and volunteers distribute more than 11 million pounds of food, or 9 million meals, annually from its distribution sites; more than 200 partner agencies, which include neighborhood and church food distributions and soup kitchens; as well as hunger assistance programs. FOOD Share’s programs provide healthy nutrition and education to children, families and seniors, which include: Kids’’ Farmers’ Market, Senior Kits, Nutrition Education, Community Markets, and more. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, FOOD Share is a member of the Feeding America network, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. For more information about FOOD Share, visit www.foodshare.com.
